Final rehearsal before Easter! And two weeks off.
1) Warmup
including all the usual vocal exercises, and ending with the round 'Click, stamp, slap, clap'
2) Act 1
We started by looking at the tenor line on p.10 - a line we hadn't covered previously, and then put that page together. Next we moved by to page 8, to cover all lines on this page - having previously only covered the alto line.
then we sang through from page 6-12 - a big chunk of Act 1 - Well done all!!
3) Bell Chorus
We started at figure 28 on page 33 - again a little chunk we hadn't looked at before. We then ran on from there, revising the section up to fig 30. We then looked at pg. 36-37, stopping at fig 32. We had a little bit of time left so we had a revise of fig 33 - end of the Bell Chorus, including the lines of awkwardness!
4) Staging Act 1
To finish, Lissa helped us do a staged run of the material from Act 1 - what a fantastic way to end our first month of rehearsals!
HOMEWORK
We're really hoping that you'll be able to memorise some material from Act 1 and the Bell Chorus in time for our next rehearsals. Can I apologise again for the delay in getting the recordings to you. As you'll have seen in the email yesterday, we do now have them, and for ease, I've linked the relevant bits below... And I've stitched them together into bigger chunks too to help you memorise... hope this helps!
Act 1, fig 3 - 10
Soprano
Alto
Tenor
Bass
Tutti recording - a recording with all parts equal is in the 'Choir' folder on dropbox. The file is called Act1 Introduction p.1-15 and this section starts at 1.05 mins into the recording!
Bell chorus
For the Bell chorus, see recordings in the dropbox - you're looking for Pages 33, 35, 37 and 39. There are some short passages we haven't covered, but have a listen anyway!
