I was even more pleased than normal to arrived at Silver Cloud on Monday, having sat at Charing Cross for about 15mins not moving! Anyway - arriving only 5mins late, it was fab that Lissa was on hand to do lead a really fun warmup! The rest of the rehearsal ran as follows...
1) Vocal warmup
Including a new range exercise, and the Dum dum song
2) Act 1
We started on page 11 - focusing on the bass/tenor lines at two before 7 - really angular lines! We then went back to 6 and covered all the vocal lines on page 11.
With that under our belts, we moved on to pages 12, again covering all the parts. We skipped page 13 and had a look at the unison section on page 14, up, to the 'Ah!'.
We then went back to Figure 3, and ran through all the material we've covered so far. We still have a tenor line and a page that we need to cover in this section, which we'll do next week.
3) Bell Chorus
After break, we started at the top of the Bell Chorus, on p. 29, covering this more dialogue-like section, up until the end of p.32. Next week we'll look at the tiny bit of material we've not covered on p.33 and then we should be able to link all the way through to p.36.
Great stuff! Update on the learning aids - they should be being finalised today, so soon I'll be able to point you in the direction of tracks to listen to! next week is our last session before we stop for Easter, and we're going to give you a little bit of memorisation homework - nothing unmanageable! But should mean we're in a really strong position when we start back after Easter.
Many thanks for your hard work.
See you next week!

PS thanks to Katie for the chocolate biscuits. And Boris for the chocolate. :)
